My teenage son, who is in high school, LOVES Manga. Actually, all of my sons and my husband all love Manga.
What is Manga, you ask? It's Japanese animation and can be written or filmed. It is essentially a cartoon and is written in the form of a comic book. The characters are typically androgynous and usually have HUGE eyes. I think they are adorable, but don't tell anyone...who knows what that will lead to!
So, my son is part of the Anime (Manga) club and they were having a viewing of one of their favorite movies today. I offered to make them some cupcakes and then upped the ante by offering to make the characters of the movie.
When my son brought me the name of the Anime...yikes! Ouran Host Club.
But I started...coloring fondant, baking vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, making vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache frostings. I started on tuesday afternoon so I would not be hurried. I really love to do this and I would like to keep it that way.
So, no shots of work in progress but I have the all important finished shots. I promise I'll try to be better next time...promise.

I am quite pleased with how they turned out. Considering they faces were done free hand with edible marker. I haven't drawn in ages and it's about time I start doing it again. It really was something I enjoy. I think doing it will help my decorating and with my courage to 'just do it'.
In my excitement I may have committed to a LARP cake...only time will tell!
